Off to see grandson Herbie for a few days to the lovely island of Guernsey so no postings. Very cold here today I think it is about 1 degree just been shopping and never run round so fast to get back home to the warmth.

I am on a roll with the string after doing the recycled jars I made a card using it.

Miserable day today rain, sleet and maybe snow predicted. Scrapbooking all day at my house with friends. Not too bad then hey !!

Quilt finished for my cousin Craig`s little girl Ella she is 2.I used a template from Sue for the design in the white squares then used free motion quilting.I love the fabric so clean looking.

A friend Liliana brought some jars she had covered in string. I have done the two with the flowers on the front. One is a J2 O bottle and the other a coffee jar. I used PVA glue and wound the string adding a flat backed stone.Liliana used adhesive lead the same used on stained glass windows round the top of hers which makes them look quite special I think.

WORKSHOP ON APPLIQUE

On Friday I did a workshop with Sue doing applique. The design was cut with an Accuquilt die called Feathers on a Sizzix Pro machine (I have altered a few of the feather since taking the photo). We did blanket stitch on a sewing machine round each feather, I did mine in yellow thread to show up. I still have 6 more to do. I intend to add an edge and more interest, watch this space for finished design.

We had our first W.I. after the Christmas break. A lady called Trizia came to show us how to make fresh pasta, boy was it delicious with the sauces she made to go with it and so easy, must have a go. Pleased the winds have died down today the boats might come in and we can have fresh food in the supermarkets being such a small island we have this problem in bad weather.

I know I should be running round like a headless chicken days before Christmas but actually everything is in order just fresh veg and bakery to get. We had a wonderful party at our quilting group last night. I won a bottle of wine, the food was delicious. I did a demo of a bookmark and each table had to reproduce the same with me picking a winner. On arrival we were all given a name tag with a word on. These were taken off us through the night and the idea was to remember how many names of items you could, if you had been sociable and spoke to a number of ladies hopefully this would be easy. Our table won !!!

Herbie loves my craft room and mastered the art of rubber stamping which kept him amused while his mum went shopping. This year`s Christmas cake has chocolate inside the mixture from the `Home Bake` book by the gorgeous frenchman Eric Lanlard.This is the third cake made,the one I dropped I did have a taste and wow you can taste the chocolate. I will be doing this one again.I also made some florentines for gifts.

Last night we had our W.I. Christmas night l have never laughed so much playing a card game spoons. We also had a chocolate fountain which was delicious dipping all the yummy fruits, so I guess that was the healthy part. The ladies worked hard to get it ready thank you so much good job done.

It was the last night of our Get Crafty Club. I have run it for 6 years with the help of good friends Christine, Jenny and Jean. We had 47 ladies in all. Back from Guernsey, the stay was longer than expected as they had to cut more tendon away from Rachael`s foot than they first thought. She had great difficulty in walking and with three year old Herbie impossible to look after. Herbie and I spent a lot of time crafting, making cakes and on the beach, luckily the weather was lovely. We had a really high tide and had great fun running in and out of the water with our wellie boots on of course. I am finding it difficult to get back into crafting mode my mojo is not working at the moment.

24 ladies did the Christmas card workshop with me for our W.I. The time went so quickly they made four cards in the morning and four in the afternoon. We had lovely tea and cakes provided by the W.I. members. When is the next one I was asked !!!
